DAO Thoughts While I Play…

First Play

My first real time in Dragon Age: Origins has me belly laughing.  It’s very unexpected.  The game seemed like it would be as serious as they come.

First, there is the “rat quest” reference that nearly made me fall out of my chair.  A great one-liner that every player has said themselves.  It was unexpected to me and caught me off guard.  Good stuff.

Second, perpetual gore is hilarious and so inappropriate that it is funny.  I’m keeping it turned on.

Engrossing

Wow.  I just looked up from the game and it is two hours later.  I’ve been totally sucked into the story.  I like the aspect of adventure they’ve built into the game.  You can explore and talk to characters with some direction, but not feel like you’re being led by the hand.

The comedy certainly didn’t last long in the game.  Things got pretty serious pretty quickly.  The end of the “introduction” seemed pretty abrupt.  It’s like the writers were thinking, “Okay, you know what is going to happen here…we’ll just skip this part.”

Yeah, it’s a life-stealer for sure, that one. I didn’t allow myself to play at all yesterday and I STILL didn’t get hardly any NaNoWriMo done.

    Gah!

Aliester has some of the best one liners in the game. ”Yes…swooping is bad…”

Character is good in combat and friggin hilarious.

Yeah…my favorite line though was near the beginning where one of the ohter Grey Wardens says, “Did you hear that? We’re going to be killed, but we’ll be warned about it first.”
